I like to practice these transitions when moving from 90/90 on one side to 90/90 on the opposite side. Notice that I progressively sit taller in this video – sitting taller will be more difficult, and removing your hands’ support will be most difficult. Remember to push your back knee to the floor with each rep and pull your knees apart between each rep, making the entire technique active.
- Sit in 90/90 with your spine as straight as possible (sit up tall out of your hips) and place your hands behind your torso for support.
- Rotate your torso to face equally between your two legs.
- Keeping your feet where they are, slowly pull your knees apart as wide as possible to actively stretch the inner thighs.
- Keeping your feet where they are, slowly bring your knees to the floor, facing the opposite direction in a 90/90 position.
- As you arrive in 90/90 position, push your trail knee against the floor and sit tall through your spine.
- Repeat for 10 reps, sitting up as tall as possible throughout.
