I started on a 75l foamy from decathlon. It is super cheap, last a bit and you can start with it. get out more often then renting one.
after beeing able to catch whites easily i switched to a 7’9” with around 63l and then a 7’6” with 50 l volume. currently, 1,5-2 yrs after starting i ride a 6’2” performance grovler with 42,2 l.

in general rather start with more foam. you will catch more waves

    Hey Johnny

Make sure you look for a foam board with enough float for your weight. Here are a couple I would highly recommend:

If you cannot find these where you live, try something similar. 8ft in these models are what I would recommend to you but if you are on the bigger side you can go for the 9ft too:

The aim of the game at the start is to catch as many waves as possible and more foam enables you to do so!

Don’t hesitate to send me a link of a board if you’re not too sure about it and I will give you my opinion.
