Home Discussions Surfboards & Equipment Single Fin

    Hi Guys

I am riding an 8-foot board with a big single fin. Prior to this, I was riding a 7’6 trusher set up. I love the 8 foot because I am catching a ton of waves but I am not turning as well as I did on my 7’6. Could the single fin be holding me back? What are the pros and cons of the single fin vs truster

    Hello Deirdre

Single fins are great for smooth, slow turns but hard to do quick, sharp turns. They can feel unstable, especially when you’re not used to riding it. By the sounds of it, you have been trying to get used to it but if it’s not feeling right try putting side fins in so you will get more hold when doing turns.
